"A Wonderful Family".
I'm from Topeka.Joy was my girlfriend in the early
70s. It was such a tragedy that
her life ended so soon. The Robinsons are a wonderful family.
They will always hold a dear spot in my heart.
"Fellow Topeka West HS alumnus". TW High
school student 70-73 sorry to hear about your loss of friends and
classmates. God be with you {no response required}
"A Special Family". We love
the
Robinson Family. They have been a special part of our lives for a long
time. Bruce was my first patient in
Topeka, both at my first office downtown
in 1977 and at our new practice at 1001 Mulvane St. in January, 1983.
Allen
was in our wedding in Indiana. We're glad they have been our neighbors,
friends, patients, and especially part of our church family. Bill & Diana
Carriger.
"SHHS Memories". I remember the
first time I stepped in to the choir room at
SHHS as a sophomore. I saw
Joy,
and not only thought she was beautiful, but sweet. I can't believe she even
would speak to me, being an underclassman, but she did. We had some
wonderful times in choir, and that is where I even met my wife, Jeannie
Aadalen.
Joy was always upbeat, and I was very sad when she passed away.
Thanks for hosting this site for her. - Dennis McPhail.
"Someone Quite Special". If for no other reason than the way my husband talks about
Joy, I know that she must have made an impression. And Don is not easily impressed with anyone (in my opinion). I was part of the “Central
Church of Christ”
Topeka youth group from 1964-1966. It was a wonderful congregation and I had several friends there. Even though I never knew
Joy, I do know the environment she was exposed to at
Central and I know that she just like most everyone else who at one time or another attended there was blessed for the experience. And I am sure that the brethren at
Central were equally as blessed to have
Joy in attendance there.
"Someone You Could Believe In". I knew the
Robinsons from their very first days in
Topeka, back when they lived at
3121SW
Briarwood Circle before they moved out to
3654SE
Tomahawk Drive in Tecumseh (LakeJivaro). I can still remember the first time I saw
Joy. She was a beaming light in an otherwise ordinary room full of young people. I suppose it was her natural smile, she just had one you know. No matter how bad you felt when you entered a room with
Joy Robinson in it, you only had to look at her once and you automatically felt better. She had an ability to see the good in almost everyone.
Joy would talk to even the shyest person, even if you weren’t much of a talker yourself (and I was not). And in that brief moment when she would smile at you and say that she enjoyed your company, you knew she was being honest and sincere, because that is who she was. She was one of the very few persons that I have ever known who accepted folks as they were, without question. I know we all miss her, as my entire family does. I hope this website can keep the essence of who she was alive in each of us, because if it can, then we will all be better off, just for having known her and for remembering
Joy.
By the way, my son Matthew was born on the same birthday as
Joy, January 16th. And my sister Sherry’s middle name is “Lynn”, just as
Joy’s was. No wonder we had so much in common.
